Rome, winter 1939. Pope Pius XI who has mildly attacked Hitler’s regime, is dying. In order to achieve their goal, Hitler’s agents will have more than a tone of gold ingots. The Holy Alliance –the Vatican secret services– ask the Octogonus Circle for help. It is a secret brotherhood founded by Olympia Maidalchini, a mysterious woman who had always turned up whenever the Church faced difficulties. Niccola Storzi, a Jesuit who teaches at the Teutonicum in Rome, will dismiss the contents of a parchment bound with a red ribbon. This parchment identifies messages of Octogonus and will eventually lead him to find out disturbing secrets that he would never have wished to know.
